Home grown Larch

After many years of working with Homegrown Larch at East Brothers, we’ve become well-acquainted with its quirks and numerous benefits. Through experience, we’ve learned that its tendency for increased movement limits the lengths we can use.

Home Grown Larch

Why use Larch

Larch is a favourite at East Brothers, among the most durable softwoods, with natural resistance to decay, fungi, and insects, making it ideal for outdoor use.

Its high moisture resistance makes it a popular choice for cladding buildings and due to this natural durability and resistance to decay, Larch timber requires minimal maintenance, especially if left untreated.

However, this same resin content can make Larch less receptive to paint. If painting is planned, we recommend considering alternatives like Douglas Fir, which is better suited for that purpose.

Availability and Dimensions

At East Brothers, we maintain a substantial stock of Larch roundwood, ready to be sawn to your specified dimensions. Our mill specialises in bespoke timber cutting, allowing us to tailor our cutting to your requirements as long as they can be milled from the log.

Our maximum cutting dimensions for larch are:

  • Length: 4.2 meters
  • Width: 300 millimeters
  • Height: 300 millimeters

For dimensions exceeding these limits, please contact us directly to discuss potential solutions.

Given our bespoke cutting lead times may vary but as standard you can expect fresh sawn timber to be ready to collect within 3-4 weeks of order date
